Ravishankar,after completing his B Sc. Physics – Honors degree from Bangalore he joined the well-known National Aeronautical Laboratory, Bangalore.  He started working as a Scientific Assistant in the Materials Science Division. He has picked up his talent in going in depth of any issue is from this prestigious institute.  He then moved on to Raman Research Institute, Bangalore and worked as a Scientist.  He has achieved very noteworthy accomplishments as a Scientist.

It was by the inspiration of Mr. Sudharshan Karle that he got into apparels and joined Karle Group of Companies and developed systems and working methods in the following departments.

  • Imports
  • Merchandising
  • Materials management
  • Factory – cut to ship
  • Separate training program for Production Managers, Supervisors, Quality controllers, sewing operators etc.,
  • Recruited ATDC Students and trained them to be Supervisors
  • Recruited NIFT students and engineers for middle management jobs.
  • Implemented lean manufacturing system
  • Set up compliance dept.
  • Technical training and soft skills

 

After a very long stint with Karle Group he decided to take a project with UNIDO and Protex India Pvt. Ltd., worked in Bellari Jeans Cluster to improve productivity.

After that he took up an assignment with Integra Apparels (Garment Unit of Morarjee Group) to

  • Set up training centres to train fresh candidates
  • Fine tune production and merchandising systems, and
  • Train the Trainer program

Then he joined Gokaldas Exports Ltd., Bangalore, to set-up sewing operator training centers across the group and Supervisory Development Program and also to

  • Train the Trainer Program
  • Develo modules on quality to produce defect free garments.
  • Monitorproduction efficiency of the group and eliminated bottleneck operations and simplified operations, and
  • Train Merchandisers on communication skills, product knowledge and managing their work in the stipulated time.

Later on joined Page Industries Limited (Jockey India), Bangaloreat the head office to set-up Sewing Operator Training Centres at all locations of Page Industries where fresh candidates were trained in sewing skills and at the end of 18 days of training program candidates will be equivalent to 5 years experienced candidates.  The objectives were to

  • Organize and Train the Training Program.
  • Organize Women Supervisory Development program.
  • Recruit fresh Engineers from colleges and train them for 6 months under Graduate Engineer Development Program, and
  • They have been given exposure to Sewing skills and garment construction
  • Batch management concepts
  • IE concepts
  • Quality concepts, and
  • Fabric and accessories

His last stint before joining TransCat People Solutions Pvt. Ltd., was with Aquarelle India Pvt. Ltd., where he conducted training programs for Supervisors for a green field factory in Karnataka and set-up sewing lines with newly trained operators.  Fresh Graduate girls were selected and trained them to be Supervisors. They were trained on sewing skills, garment construction, machine adjustments, people management skills, batch setting, capacity building and soft skills.

He is fond of cooking and storytelling.
